About 12 years ago, I made my first stock purchase.

And I want to be honest with you, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing.

My background was in engineering, not finance. Nobody in my family talked about the stock market. I didn’t know what a P/E ratio was, let alone how to value a company or structure an options trade. What I did know was this: relying on a salary alone, for the rest of my life, felt like a plan with a very obvious ceiling.

So I started. Slowly, messily, and with more mistakes than I’d like to admit.

The early years were expensive lessons. I chased the wrong stocks, sold too early, held on too long. I learned what risk actually feels like when it’s your own money on the line, not a textbook example. I moved from Singapore stocks to high-growth US companies, and eventually into options strategies that I now use to generate consistent monthly income.

Twelve years later, that four-figure starting portfolio has grown to over SGD 500,000, utilizing options strategies now generate SGD 3,000 to 5,000 a month for me.

But honestly? The part I didn’t expect was how much I’d enjoy helping other people get there.

Somewhere in the middle of my own journey, I started sharing what I was learning. Not because I had everything figured out, but because I remembered how overwhelming it felt at the beginning, and how much I wished someone had just explained it plainly.

And over the years, I’ve been fortunate enough to work with over 500 students from all walks of life, helping them build six figure investment portfolios from scratch.

Today, I create content on YouTube, write here on Substack, and run a private Telegram investing community of 700+ members, all built around one idea: that everyday people can learn to invest well, without the jargon, without the noise, and without needing a finance degree to get started.
